My Birthday week.

So this was my big week, turning 91... I mean 21. Of course...
To distract myself from the fact that I didnt have my mummy I arranged a bunch of activites, most of which involved cake. The rest involved food.
For my birthday night, I had a bunch of the guys from the exchange group come over for a cake party. I told everyone they had to bring one or two of their favourite cakes from their local patisserie and then we all get to have a taste. So... there was 9 of us and about 17 cakes... We didnt make it through, but they were so very tasty.

We had cakes of all different colours!

And the not so fancy but oh so tasty tart (et vin!)

The oh so moussey elegance.

And my koalas made an appearance. They aparently make good wine holder thingos.

Birthday girl! A tad tipsy...

Before we dived in.

We have also decided its cheaper here to buy a cake with raspberries on it than it is to just buy raspberries. Win!

Matching our wines to our koalas.

Some of the koalas got a bit drunk and lost their heads. It had nothing to do with the drunk pom and my slurs about the English cricket team. heh...

This little guy is sitting above my bathroom door, and there he will stay to keep a watch on things...

They make good accessories.

Anyway, during the day I did the usual wednesday activity of going to Mosaics. And eating. Lots of chocolate.

I started cutting some fragments of glass for a new project.

And I got a cute parisian man to polish the stone for me on my mosaic. I am loving the crisp lines.

So close to being done... Just need to do something a rather to the glass (I dont remember, but I'm sure he'll tell me on wednesday)

Michelle was awesome and bought me a whole heap of chocolates from London. She went all the way there JUST to get me chocolate. This is a Walnut Whip. Its yummy. I ate it all.

Then after mosaics again on thursday it was a lovely day so I took Frank (pulled him up the hill) to the Sacre Coeur.

I forgot how lovely the view is. Especially when its warm and sunny. I didnt even need a coat!

Spring is here! And the flowers are looking tres jolie.

Sacre Coeur. Hasnt changed since the last time I saw it, but the sky is pretty blue.

Frank wanted to do a dinner cruise on the seine, so we found one and off we went.

My first course, scallops. Oh so yummy and tender.

Guinea fowl, the sauce was devine.

Crepes suzette a la flambe.
The food was lovely, and the view was nice. I am still trying to not think of the price. But since its my big 21, who cares...

The eiffel tower is still in Paris would you believe.

And so am I. (click the image to make it bigger if you dont believe me.)

And I'm still eating. I thought I would need a break from the cakes after wednesday, but by friday I was back in full swing.

And according to our professor, it was pig day in our studio. I should have brought pork.

Lauren bought be some lovely birthday flowers. They make my room smell so pretty.

And this little fella flew in to say hi. Incrediably hilarious considering this whole apartment is covered in wall decals of fake ladybirds.

It was a nice week, and yes, I'm old now, apparently. But I still miss my mummy.

A very disney weekend.

Bonjour mes amies!
I had a biiiig weekend.
It started off with lots of cleaning. Lots of it.

And look! Finally its clean again.

I also went to disneyland twice this weekend. Yes I am insane. On saturday I went with Michelle, and it was fairly cold. Bordering on freezing at points, but it was colourful and fun, as disney always is.

Beanstalk!

Its a small world. A very small small world...

Australia, presented by disney.

TEACUPS. This shot was for mum. :)

Michelle was impressed. :)

Pirates! Unfortunately the pirates of the caribean ride was down for maintenance.

Parade! Mickey.

Toystory.

The crowds on the saturday were intense. But we still had fun, fast tracking most rides, and eating pretty much the entire time.

That night Frank, a friend from Perth (not dad) flew in.
Sunday I dragged him along to a morning food market, the St Ouen Antique markets, and then a vintage market in the Marais ville. I managed to come out with no dresses, but some jewellery... heh.
I then had Abby and Ariel over for nibbles, drinks and eventually pizza. Always fun to joke around with the girls.

On Monday morning I was off again to Disney, this time with Frank and Abby.

Frank trying to be king. And Failing.

The squishiest teacup ride ever!

Indiana Jones rollercoaster! Superfun.

Didnt get to eat here, but it was awesome nonetheless.

Aladin!

This was just a random walk through with these windows in them... but cute. Singing Aladin songs in French.

Abby, not impressed with our lunch of bland mexican.

Thunder mountain, as seen from the steam boat.

Haunted Mansion.

Closed! But it would have been awesome!

So fluffy! Cotton candy! Which in french is barbe père, directly translated to fathers beard. heh.

Frank, about to be defeated by the fairy floss.

Castle! Very Roccoco, fitting though.

Today I showed Frank gallery LaFayette, and did a bit of shopping (of course). And then went off to uni.

Ce mon anniversaire demain. (Its my birthday tomorrow)
I finally got mums package, which I'll open in the morning, and then head off to mosaics. And I'm having a bunch of the exchange guys over for cake and drinks before heading out for cocktails somewhere...  I plan on it being a good day, not a crying for my mummy day.

a bientot!

An art related update

Bonjour!
So I've been really busy the past week making some art. (or pretending to, ahh, the life of a student.)
The week has been emotionally hell. But I have chocolat and it has somewhat dissolved from my memory why its been such a hard week.
Anyway.
Art.

Okay.. not art. But delicious!

Prepare for progress shots of the mosaic

All the mosaics in, just need to set it with the grout and polish up the stone.

The glass is so pretty!

Grout in the bottom.

Grout in the top. Next week when its completely dry, I get to polish it all up! Sweet.

Combo meal?

I also started a nice and complex embroidery.

I get to use gold thread. Gold thread is shiney!
I'll be glad if this works out, because its been hours on it and I've not even finished a quarter of it.

We had our warmest day yet on Tuesday. A sunny 19 degrees. So a bunch of us from uni went and had a picnic in the park. Baguette, cheese, chocolat et champagne. What more could we need.

We just bask in the sunlight.

And just to prove my being in Paris still, here I am outside the musee de pompidou.

So this week is a big and busy one, as per usual. I have a friend coming up from Perth who will be staying with me for the week, before heading off on his own whirlwind adventure. Its also my birthday on wednesday (still hoping mum is the birthday present, but I doubt she fits in this box they sent.. heh). I am going to Disneyland as well, and probably a bunch of touristy stuff.
Also, not long now til Amsterdam! Its going to be great to get out of Paris for awhile.

Hope you are all well. Miss you all. (Except Lauren. She smells.)
