So once again I cant remember what my last post was and when and I'm too lazy to look...
But in the last few days...
I ate an awesome baguette. Roast beef. Nice and pink and juicy.
and then I ate this tartlette chocolat... Oh my god... so good.
I went for a walk and found random outside public table tennis tables...
And then found musee de pompidou. Its a museum of art from about 1970s upwards. The building is crazy, it looks all inside outie and stuff.
Here is the view from the strange tube thing on the outside, which ended up being escalators to the top.
And a higher view...
A giant pot! A golden giant pot...
I saw some of my favourite artists works, as well as some new awesome stuff. There was too much for one blog, but if you really want to see it look on facebook or email me. This is Annette Messager... Amazing textiles based works.
Some of the original guerilla girls signs.
A furry Mondian... it was humorous as upstairs was a Mondrian exhibit...
A random sculpture.
A rachel whiteread. crazy, she takes casts of the inside of buildings with plaster or concrete, and then rips away the walls and stuff, showing the space within.
I then found some colourful sweet things.... :D
And some street arts.
And a random emptied fountain with an old building...
And some more street art. CARROTS!
So this is from today. Today I went to the other uni campus at the top of Paris and got myself into a mosaics class. It looks really interesting and I'm excited to get to work next wednesday. Yay for keeping traditional techniques alive. Anyway. I left my trainstation at a different exit than usual just to get to know the area some more and this building popped up. Its pretty amazing hey, flying buttresses and all.
Public art is pretty exciting, I love the giant watering can. That domed building behind it is a bank by the way.... Does your bank look like that?
I also found a cute little craft shop.
Its walls were covered in jars filled with assortments of beads and buttons and bits and bobs. They looked like candy!
Some other walls were covered in skeins of wool, or rolls of ribbons, it was very colourful and cute, and very busy! I must go back when I have a project in mind.
I went for a walk at night and caught the end of some food markets, so I will have to go back earlier next thursday and have a look. there was a street that was so busy with people that I went for a walk to see what was happening, and it looks like this is where everyone comes at night to get there fresh foods. Each store is specialised and everything looks amazingly fresh. Here is another shot of a patisserie, because I know you love them as much as I!
A boulangerie. I'm not sure what these were, but they looked like works of art in themselves.
The chocolaterie's are all filled with valentines day crap... I might just have to buy myself a heartshaped box of chocolates for then, to show my love and devotion to food... I might even put a lock on the bridge saying Bonnie <3s food.
A fromagerie. So much cheese. I am yet to buy chesses from a place like this because there is too much choice... and everyone knows what I'm like at decision making... And I'm not buying the shivelled up moldy one just cause its the most expensive! I also so truffles today, only 1600 euros a kilo! Bargain.
Tomorrow its back to French class and then the weekend starts... like it never ended anyway. Very slowly getting uni sorted. 2/4 classes acquired. Not sure what I will do this weekend. Probably more museums and stuff, since I have a nifty student card that has been getting me in for free everywhere! Hooray!
I hope that none of you were effected in the horrible fires I've heard about, and if you are, remember that you are alive, and that is what matters most. And good food. So eat some chocolate for me! I'm on salads and water so I can binge on valentines day to show my love for food. :D
Bon weekend!
Loving your work Bon. So glad you are having a good time. I am glad I am not the only person who loves Paris in winter. Cannot wait to see it with the sun shining. Donna
