Lonnng blog because I was lazy this week...

So here we go, I probably should have done some seperate blogs, but alas, I am lazy, as you all know.

Wednesday:
After mosaics, we went back to the other university for a gallery openning. Some very interesting works, and people. There was a large wooden box with a slit in it, and if you looked through the slit someone inside would point a gun at you through it. haha.

This work was good, how do you unlock it? With the key, but how do you get the key? You unlock it.
If the box was made better it would have been very good.

I have no idea what this was about, but it was a bed with latex rubber sheets etc, and then someone was pouring honey on it.

A melting ice head. Kinda like Marc Quinns blood head, but you know... less bloody.

This was a giant tamagotchi... if you remember what those are. Basically a little game that you had to keep a creature alive, feed it and play with it etc. But this one had a live rat in it. And the rat was scared. So the rat kept pooping...

After that we went back to my place and had a feast of japanese food with wine of course.

I ate this at some point during the week. It was very pretty...

Friday:
We decided that we would do some galleries after French on Fridays, so after a gruelling lesson we headed to a nice patisserie for our lunch and ate it out in the sun. The roll was yum, but i ate it too fast for a photo.

I also bought these beautiful pastel marshmallow things. Very soft and tasty.

And of course the "gateau" portion of our meal was this creamy and tangy lemon tart. So good.

We then took the RER to the museum, and found that tower again on the way.
Abby likes being a tourist for me!

In the gallery we got free entrance again which is awesome, and saw a temporary exhibition called General Idea. Very strange works, lots of the AIDS works to mock the LOVE work. I dont really get this piece with the poodles, but it was cool.

After taking this the lady went crazy at us for taking photos... even though it wasnt signed, and we had taken photos infront of a different attendant and he didnt care... Meany parisians.

Poodle Karma Sutra apparently... Some artists are strange. But its you cant deny its different.

In the perminant collections we saw some boring art, and some recognisable art... This is a Picasso work.
The gallery was quite good though, It was the museum of modern at though, so it should be. We then went and had a drink outside in what was left of the sun and people watched. Its paris fashion week here, so there was some event in the building next to the gallery, with lots of skinny models outside...

Saturday:
Today I met Michelle in the crazy area of montmartre. Not a nice area to be alone in, but perfect if you need fabric. We did a bit of shopping and I got the (damn expensive) cotton I needed and she got the pieces for her artwork. Michelle finally recieved some money from her university, so we decided to celebrate by going to Laduree, a very famous patisserie on the Champs Elysees. We had some very tasty sandwiches, which came with the very special 4 chips... and then we had some amazing desserts, mine was some kind of chocolate overload, very rich and yummy, and Michelles was kinda like a profiterole, but with a violet cream inside and violet icing. It tasted amazing, it tasted purple. I would have taken photos, but it was very posh and I didnt want to look like a douche.
We then journeyed to a Brittish bookshop that Michelle wanted to go to (after a slight detour... She needs to work on her navigating... heh) They sell vegemite! But its 5,90 Euros for a tiny jar...

Saturday night we headed to Abbys for drinks and dinner and to be introduced to some special american foods.
Lauren brought over ingrediants for pasta and made a puttanesca which was very tasty (but not very american, which suited me fine)

She worked in Abbys kitchen, which also happens to be inside of a cupboard.

We also drank a bit of cheap champagne and wine as you do in Paris.

French Fries, an american food, was lovingly prepared by McDonalds...

Reeces Peanutbutter cups? The girls made them for us to try, very different flavour combination with the peanut butter, but tasty none the less.

They also made us Peanut butter and Jelly sandwiches... very strange... I ate it, but I cant say I would make it myself, its very sweat. I'll stick to my vegemite. heh.
The night was fun though, we taked for hours, and Michelle came back to mine to stay, because she lives in a bit of a dodgy area that is probably not too nice to walk in at 1am by yourself...

And finally, today, Sunday.
After Michelle left I didnt do much til about 3pm when Abby and I met up to go to a vintage/retro market type thing. It was very cool to see, heaps of accessories and stuff. There was great rockabilly music playing and even a guy cutting peoples hair in the old styles. I bought a cute vintage hat, and Abby got some awesome vintage teatowels that had great prints on them.

Not the greatest photo of the hat... but yes, I am pleased. :)

Tomorrow is back to reality, with a tonne of French homework, not to mention art work to do, as finally this week I'm meeting up with my studio professor. Hopefully it all goes well.

A bientot!
