Weekend with my uncle and Carol. pt 1

Hello again friends. I'm splitting this blog into two as I had two very big days with Uncle John and Carol. But first, my apartment was cleaned up enough for me to take a few photos for you. There is one vital one missing, but you will get the idea.

The living room/kitchen/bedroom. I have a table.

This is the entrance way/kitchen. Not much of a kitchen, but it will do. No oven for cupcake and cookie baking though.

Bathroom view one.

View two.

He must really be into those wall decals. they are everywhere. In the one photo I didnt take (admittedly because I hadnt made the bed yet) you can see that the wall has these giant tulips on them. Its strange, but cute. I will post a photo later...

Anyway, Uncle John arrived at about 11.30pm and I had fallen asleep on the bed... So hopeless, we went out for a drink at the cafe down the road and caught up before heading back to the warm appartment for sleeeep.

We got up saturday morning, and decided to see some sights while shopping, my favourite way to travel, and took the metro to Galleries La Fayette. The photo above is a shopping center. Would you believe. The architecture is amazing. This is also a shopping center you can grab a glass of champagne or beer and go shopping. Very bizarre.

The details were beautiful. I could have done so much shopping, and I will probably go back to do this shopping, but its an amazing place. I only bought a few little presents for the grandparents. But dear, if it was mum and me and not Carol who is much more focused with her shopping, we would have come out with bags filled and empty wallets.

Pierre Herme is tucked in the bottom floor with all the shoes. The macaroons are sooo pretty, but my control has been pretty good today. (No shopping and no macaroons, I was clearly on a role.)

The window displays at this place were very cute. I particularly liked this one with the puppy on the bike. So silly, would have been a lot of fun to put together.

We then left La Fayette and decided to walk to the Arc de Triomphe, which of course actually ended up being a 3.1km walk. We saw lots on this walk though, and stopped for a small lunch at starbucks so they could top up on there coffee, chocolat chaud for me of course.

A rifle shop? Very strange to see guns like this...

The best in paris? I'm not sure, but they had Eiffel tower shaped bread, and donkey shaped bread in the windows. I wanted to know if they were baked fresh or had been there for awhile...

The buildings are so pretty, and the city is layed out in very unusual but aestheticly pleasing ways.

Every now and then you stumble across such grand buildings.

And there she is, le Arc de Triomphe. The scariest round-a-bout in history. Some say insurance will not cover you if you drive on this round-a-bout and crash. Its crazy, but the Arc is very impressive.

Proof that I was there, and yes mum, I'm wearing the coat, its amazing!

The detailing and stone work is amazing, so detailed.

Flame for the unknown soldier. A memorial, but I so could have warmed my hands on that... heh.

We then decided to walk down de ave Champs Elysees and back to my apartment. Little did we realise, this was a 4.5km walk. (Thanks google for the info) I cannot believe I made it, my legs are going to be so hot right now. The shops down this strip are all your Chanel etc and randomly car stores like BMW. Interesting to see the granduer but a little out of the pricerange... And we of course stumbled across another grand building that has some significance...

Uncle John and Winston Churchill. Idiot, just like dad.

To end the day we decided to eat at a little moroccan restaurant across the road from me. Uncle and I both had Tagines, they were absolutely delicious, which was a surprise as the place was super tacky and empty. But as soon as we left the place got packed, so it must be a well known for late eaters. Poor Carol is on a diet and couldnt eat, but she was so strong to not even try our delicious meals. The meat was so tender it just fell off the bone. Oh god. I want another just looking at it...

Stay tuned for part 2.
